Life is a journey. We all have walked down a road to a place where we ended up by a plan or accident. It gives us a purpose. Many of us want to display the accomplishments of our life. The beauty of a sign is that it demonstrates not only your accomplishments, but also maybe a vacation that took years to save for.

Retro is the hottest type of decorator design. It brings our past into our present. You will make an investment but the signs appreciate over time and they become keepsakes and memorabilia that can be passed down to your ancestors.

Last year our family planned a reunion that was a three-year process. Most people have a million t-shirts, but we wanted something of a keepsake to have a piece of history from the reunion for years to come. My sister researched this project and came up with a tin travel sign.

As we were meeting in Key West, it was not hard to pick a place in advance we would visit. We choose “Sloppy Joe’s’ on Duval Street. A picture of the restaurant, with palm trees and our family name and year were placed on a design template to the vendor. We all have our sign prominently displayed. That reunion I will never forget!

In the family room where we live, I have 2 walls of travel signs. Some are simple, and some are more ornate. Being fortunate to have a well traveled past, afternoons when I have free time and the light cascades through the window, I sit with a hot cup of tea and look at every piece of my wall décor covering twenty years of my life.

Your selected travel signs can be displayed not just inside your home, but also in virtually any environment. Decorate your pool area or patio and don’t worry about the weather. Today, the use of retro wall décor can bring the many memories of our past encapsulated into that space and time where you can enjoy them including virtually returning to the place.

My cousin has a room full of NASCAR signs, some going back to the early days of racing. My grandmother was given a sign marking the location she went on her honeymoon with our grandfather. Older people love those types of remembrances. Retro decorating is very hot today.

What is retro? Any style, design from the past. Find the period you want to start with and look for vintage décor that meets your time frame. Nothing can be substituted for life experiences and the travel signs will give you hours of pleasure and encase your past in durable memories.

There are no limit the use of these this type of wall décor in homes. Possibilities are endless to this genre of memorabilia and collector’s items. How about a grouping of NFL teams or your favorite sports for the man cave? A single guy can use his own style to place them in his home.

This type of sign in the retro style catches your eye. I stood in front of a sign with a lighthouse and palm trees. The Cape Hatteras lighthouse in NC is one of my most favorite as I am a collector. One more tin sign of the Currituck lighthouse and my NC set of lighthouses will be complete. I have them in my bathroom and the décor fits the vintage wall décor. Travel signs are fun!
