Retro Rock Island Round Metal Sign 28 x 28 Inches
The Rock Island and Pacific railroad opened in 1852 and provided service all throughout the midwest. The Retro Rock Island Round Metal Sign pays tribute to the railway in a stunning design created by artist Larry Grossman. The focal point of the artwork is a powerful locomotive shown steaming across a perfectly flat Midwestern landscape where smokestacks can be seen in the background. The sky overhead is painted with light, making it seem as if the spectacular scene is being viewed at sunset. The artwork is rendered in vivid realistic detail, as even the puddles between the tracks seem to shine. At the top of the sign are the words "The Rock Island Railroad" and the year "1932."
Manufactured in the U.S., the Retro Rock Island Round Metal Sign is trimmed in gold and red, and all of the artwork is sublimated onto the steel. The drilled and riveted round metal sign measures 28 inches in diameter, and it weighs roughly 7 pounds.
