Vintage Daylight Train Metal Sign 24 x 36 Inches Inches
During the 1940s, the 4449 locomotive carried passengers up and down the California coast for those who bought tickets to travel with Southern Pacific. The locomotive quickly became nicknamed "Daylight" because its trips were mere back and forth day trips, and the locomotive was painted with an attractive orange stripe that was reminiscent of the sky at dawn. The Vintage Daylight Train Metal Sign is a recreation of one of the pinup girl artwork signs once used to promote the train.
With artwork made through sublimation instead of paint, the metal sign shows lovely auburn-haired woman in a sheer black teddy positioned amongst a mountainous landscape as the Daylight chugs by. "The Most Beautiful in the World" is written at the top of the sign in reference to the woman and the locomotive.
Constructed in America using real 24 gauge US steel, the Vintage Daylight Train Metal Sign is 24 inches by 36 inches in size. The sign weighs 10 pounds and is drilled and riveted.
