Rio Theatre Metal Sign 12 x 18 Inches
In 1949, a revolutionary new movie screen came to the city of Santa Cruz. It took three years to complete the plans for the theater that would hold the area's first Cycloramic screen, which made movies feel as if they were more realistic by adding depth to the viewing screen. That theater, the Rio, is still in operation today, though it now serves as home to live events instead of films. On the Rio Theatre Metal Sign, Larry Grossman shows this historic theater just as it looked back in 1949. The name of the theater, its location and the year are printed at the top left of the design.
The Rio Theatre Metal Sign is a beautiful design that will retain its details wonderfully from year to year because the painting is baked onto the 24 gauge US steel base. The sign is 12 inches by 18 inches in size and weighs 2 pounds. Drilled and riveted, the American-made sign is a wonderful gift for any lover of cinematic history.
