Retro Super Chief - Pin-Up Girl Metal Sign - 18 x 12 Inches
In May 1937, the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway unveiled their flagship locomotive. Called The Super Chief, the train was the very first sleeping car train powered by diesel fuel produced to service the United States, and it made trips from Kansas City to California on a daily basis. The train was widely publicized, particularly with pin-up girl posters like the one that has been baked onto the surface of the Retro Super Chief Metal Sign. The sign shows a lovely brunette in a bra top wearing a Native American Headdress. The Super Chief is chugging along the track beside her, and its logo is emblazoned prominently toward the center of the sign.
A great gift for lovers of locomotive history, the Retro Super Chief Metal Sign is American made and features a heavy-gauge American steel base. The sign is 18 inches tall by 12 inches wide and weighs 2 pounds. The corners are hand vintaged, drilled and riveted.
